ABOUT

Conceived and directed by Susan H. Schulman.
There’s been a lot of speculation about the relationship between Robert Schumann, Clara Schumann and the young upstart Johannes Brahms. What really went on with those three radical composers? Cut to the present. The marriage between Maya, a former dancer, and Richard, a famous conductor, is on the rocks. When she buys him Clara’s piano to help mend their crumbling relationship she inadvertently unleashes the passions and ghosts locked inside all that ivory and wood.
STATUS: 2008 workshop of Act 1 by the Stratford Shakespeare Festival and the National Ballet of Canada. Currently developing Act 2 with director Susan H. Schulman and choreographer Matjash Mrozewski.
